Letters of Recommendation
Recommendation letters are often requested in applying for a job and scholarship as well as furthering higher education. A referee giving recommendation to an applicant writes a letter about the applicant’s qualities, characteristics and capabilities to the institution to which the applicant applies. The purpose of the letter is to recommend the applicant to the institution. This letter consists of at least three parts.
- Relationship between the applicant and the referee. The referee tells how he/she knew the applicant and explains why he/she recommends him/her.
- Details about the applicant’s qualities. The referee describes the qualities of the applicant based on the referee’s view and personal experience.
- Details about the applicant’s skills. The referee elaborates upon the applicant’s skills that will benefit the institutions.
