The Simple Past Tense vs The Present Perfect Tense

An exercise to measure your comprehension on how to use Simple Past Tense and Present Perfect Tense.

#Negative Sentences: 

A. Simple Past Tense

Nengsi (walk, not) ... to get to school.

Nengsi didn't walk to get to school.

B. Present Perfect Tense

We (take, not)  ... our salaries this month yet.

We have not taken our salaries this month yet.

#The using of TO BE:

A. Simple Past Tense

Revilla (be) ... late this morning.

Revilla was late this morning.

B. Present Perfect Tense

The weather (be) ... terrible ever since last Saturday.

The weather has been terrible ever since last Saturday.

Use the correct  form of verb in parentheses in each sentence below. Choose between the Simple Past Tense and the Present Perfect Tense.

  1. Harmony (study) ... in SMAN 5 Tana Toraja since July 2020.
  2. Mr. Roma (explain) ... that lesson to us last time.
  3. We (spend) ... several weeks in Lolai last year.
  4. Our friends (return) ... to Korea a week ago by plane.
  5. I (speak) ... to all my students about that matter several times already.
  6. Miss Salsa and Miss Antika (finish, not) .. their homework yet. 
  7. Miss Widya (be) ... in Makale until two months ago.
  8. Mr. Burasia and Mr. Ahmadi (fly) ... to London twice since last year.
  9. The X IBB students (go) ... to Bali during their holidays last December.
  10. I (deliver) ... some chats a few minutes ago.
